Any sign or combination of signs may be registered in Costa Rica as long as they distinguish the goods or services of a person of those of another one. 
The protection of copyrights is the result of the intellectual activity of a person in the literary and artistic fields (literary, musical, artistic, scientific and audiovisual woks, and plays).
An invention is every creation of the human intellect as long as it is applicable to the industry.  It must also accomplish the requirements of patentability.  It can be a product, a machine, a tool or a procedure of manufacture.
